The landmark 1975 book, "The Making of King Kong" by Orville Goldner and George E. Turner is
I welcome your imput on what you would like to see in the updated version. Sifting through my father's files has turned up a wealth of material that should be of interest to die hard fans of King Kong and related films (Creation, Son of Kong, She, The Last days of Pompeii, etc.) To attempt to include all of this in the book is to make the project unmanageable. The book would be too big to lift, too expensive to print or to buy, too esoteric for many of its audience, and of course it would take several lifetimes to complete the project. In order not to deny information to those fans who crave it, I plan to release a series of CD ROM’s of jewels from George Turner’s archives in a more or less raw data format. The first CD, George Turner’s Kongofiles, Volume #1 is now available Future releases will hinge upon the success and response to this release. As a part of the work on the reissue of "The Making of King Kong," I have been scanning and digitally restoring photo’s, test shots and artwork from George's negatives. Many of these were from badly damaged photographs in scrap books and, with modern technology, are vastly improved. There are a few that were too faded or damaged to be used in the original book, but will soon be available for the first time.
I would like your opinion on the demand for a newsletter about ongoing research in Kong, O'Brien, etc.
